The Media Crawl started at WHYY/PBS where students took a tour of the radio, television studios, and editing bays. They also got to see 40+ years of original Tony Auth political cartoons that were on display throughout the station. They also heard from Lisa Grey who told them about working with famous musicians for her program, On Canvas. Marketing and Communication Executive, Arthur Ellis, spoke with students about PBS. He even polled them for their opinions on various topics, especially their take on social networks.
Next they hit KYW where they toured the studio and actually stood . . . “quietly” . . . in the studio for a live KYW news broadcast.
The students then moved on to 94WIP where they got to see “the Cuz” (Anthony Gargano) broadcasting live from his studio. Students also got great advice from (TV and Radio’s) Spike Eskin.
Finally the students moved over to Fox 29 where they witnessed a live sales call concerning a Media buy from Toyota. Numerous Fox 29 employees shared their wisdom with the students. They then walked around the evening news studio and finished by snooping around the Good Day morning show set. All this in about 3 hours!
